James is Professor of Biological Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Director of Mass Spectrometry Research Facility which houses > £6 million in equipment, providing more than 20 mass spectometer systems and has a dedicated team of permanent research staff to deliver mass spectrometry research services. He is also a Principal Investigator and a group leader focussing on the development of mass spectrometry and separation science methods and applications at the interface between chemistry and other disciplines including biology, physiology and medicine. His research group focusses on developing new analytical approaches to understand small molecule chemistry in complex biological systems.
